Our Story
Half Luna Empanadas was born from a simple belief: the best memories are made around good food shared with the people we love.
Founded by Stephanie Rivera, the business began with homemade empanadas prepared for friends and family, inspired by her father's cooking and her Peruvian and Puerto Rican heritage. Born in the Bronx and raised in Buffalo, Stephanie's life has always been shaped by culture, community, and connection.
After more than 20 years in nonprofit leadership, Stephanie took a leap into entrepreneurship with a clear purpose. She saw an opportunity to bring more cultural diversity and authentic flavors to Buffalo's catering scene- celebrating the traditions and cuisines that make communities vibrant. As Stephanie puts it, "Food isn't in my background- it's in my DNA."
What started around family tables and small gatherings has grown into a catering business serving everything from intimate dinners and celebrations to weddings, corporate events, and community gatherings.
